Let’s talk about a route that you will love!
A route for keen cyclists which runs for 278 km through beautiful Italian countryside, starting in Cervia, ending in Venice and crossing the stunning Po Delta Natural Park.
Do you know why it is called the “Salt Route”? It runs parallel to the routes which salt ships would traditionally follow out to sea, transporting their cargoes from the salt pans around Cervia to Venice.
Today, the cycle touring route crosses three large protected areas that include pine forests, estuaries, lagoons and rivers. It also passes close to the cities of Ravenna, Comacchio and Chioggia, before ending in Venice with a section by boat from Pellestrina and Venice Lido. A route which is packed with history, beautiful countryside and rich heritage, to be ridden at any time of year!
