Bread Festival
On 20 and 21 June in Maiolo (Rimini), in the heart of the Rimini hinterland, the Bread Festival will take place over two days dedicated to authentic flavours, rural traditions and the atmosphere of days gone by.
The undisputed star of the show is bread, the staple of the Italian table, celebrated here as a true cultural heritage.
During the festival, the village’s old ovens come back to life: the embers are lit, local flours are kneaded and fragrant loaves are baked, offered to visitors whilst still warm, as tradition dictates.
There is also a ‘spread-out museum’ dedicated to bread, comprising some fifty ovens scattered across the area dating back to the early 19th century, of which around 10 are active and operational for ancient and traditional bread-making, bearing witness to the local rural culture.
The village still preserves its hamlets, its old farmhouses and its small squares, and has always been a tourist destination thanks to the historic Rocca di Maioletto, from which a fantastic view can be enjoyed.
