Riolo Terme, Casola Valsenio, and Castel Bolognese. Caterina Sforza and the magic of herbs - June 18th

In the footsteps of the "Lioness of Romagna" amidst the scents, colors, and flavors of times gone by.

We begin with a visit to the Rocca di Riolo Terme, dating back to the 14th century and linked to the life of Caterina Sforza, a prominent historical figure. We explore the Faenza Apennine Landscape Museum and participate in the "Caterina's Herbs" workshop. We reach Casola Valsenio, where its famous Herb Garden covers an area of ​​approximately 4 hectares dedicated to the cultivation and preservation of local medicinal plants. Following this, a cooking show and picnic in the park of Il Cardello, the former guesthouse of the nearby Benedictine Abbey of Casola Valsenio; A visit to the ancient Abbey will reveal its precious architecture and works. We reach Castel Bolognese with its historic Scodellino Mill, an extraordinary example of brick mills built between the 14th and 15th centuries. The ancient architecture and the well-kept outdoor areas are beautiful and welcoming, where a traditional peasant snack is served.

10:00 am Arrival at the Rocca di Riolo Terme - visit to the Faenza Apennine Landscape Museum and "Caterina's Herbs" workshop
11:45 am Transfer to Casola Valsenio - visit to the Cardello Mill, cooking show, and picnic in the park;
3:00 pm Transfer to the Abbey of Casola Valsenio - short stop;
4:30 PM transfer to Castel Bolognese – Scodellino Mill, tour and snack with "antichi grani" piadina
