Incantum – Litha, incantesimi di mezza estate
In Riolo Terme, in the Faenza area, the beginning of summer is celebrated precisely at the time of the Celtic, Gallic, and Germanic festivals (between June 21st and 25th) during Incantum – Litha, the midsummer spells.
A time to celebrate fertility and rebirth, during which the Druids focused on celebrating the Sun and "helping" it bless Nature. As with Samhain, the veil between the spirit world and that of man was thinning, bringing the Little People—made up of fare, gnomes, and sprites—to mingle with humans.
A two-day event filled with magic, Light, and Shadows awaits you, featuring fantastical creatures, music, fine food and drink, crafts, and entertainment.
In the eternal struggle between the Oak King and the Holly King, it is the Oak King, at the height of his splendor, who must succumb, and the days will slowly but surely begin to shorten until Alban Arthan.
Alban Hefin is the day when the boundaries between worlds blur, when fairies gather in the valleys and mortals can enjoy singular experiences.
Legend has it that if you stumble upon a St. John's Wort root, you are magically transported to the realm of fairies.
The Summer Solstice is the time of year when the energies of the Earth and the Sun are at their peak.
Alban Hefin is a time for celebrations, music, dancing, and bonfires, all to honor the Sun God and encourage him to reach his full potential.
This festival represents the Sun in all its glory, a celebration of passion and the assurance of a successful harvest. It celebrates life bursting forth with power and prosperity. In this beneficial chaos, the two primordial elements of fire—a male deity—and water—a female deity—take center stage, opposing yet complementary.
So let's light bonfires, dance around the fire, hold hands, and leap fearlessly. Let's gather herbs and dew and try to peer into the future.
This is the night suspended in time.
The night where anything can happen.
