The activities of the “Let’s Play at the Museum” project continue at MUSA – Museo del Sale di Cervia, a programme of initiatives designed for children as well as adults.

Through these workshops, MUSA – the Salt Museum of Cervia highlights the city’s deep connection with the sea, which not only provides the raw material for salt production but was also the main trade route for the precious “white gold.”

All workshops are free of charge and included in the museum admission ticket.

Programme

Sunday 15 February
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Workshop: A Sail for Everyone
Curated by the cultural association La Pantofla

A creative workshop for children exploring painting and the symbolism of ancient sails from maritime tradition. An experience combining art and history to discover the “heraldry of the sea” through colours, symbols and stories from local seafaring culture.

Sunday 22 February
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Workshop: Salty Frontier
Curated by Cooperativa Atlantide

An engaging workshop combining science and nature to discover the salt pan as an extreme and surprising environment. Through close observation, including microscope work, participants explore halophilic plants and the ingenious strategies they use to survive in seemingly impossible conditions.

Sunday 8 March
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Workshop: My Very Own Mascot
Curated by Cooperativa Atlantide

Creation of soft toys using recycled materials to represent the animals that inhabit the salt pan: a “sound-making” little bird built with colours, scissors, glue and reused materials. The aim is both to learn about salt pan wildlife and to give new life to discarded materials.

Sunday 29 March
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Workshop: A Sail for Everyone
Curated by the cultural association La Pantofla

Children will enjoy creating and painting sails using traditional ochre colours, reliving the ancient custom of sails marked with the symbols of different seafaring families, trapezoid-shaped and coloured with natural earth pigments.

Sunday 12 April
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Workshop: The Rooster, the Grape and the Caveja
Curated by C’era una volta

A creative workshop to discover and experiment with traditional Romagna rust printing, one of the most authentic symbols of the local heritage. Through history, ancient gestures and hands-on practice, participants learn the technique and try printing on fabric as in historic workshops.

Sunday 26 April
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Workshop: A Sail for Everyone
Curated by the cultural association La Pantofla

Children will have fun creating and painting sails with traditional ochre colours, rediscovering the historic tradition of sails decorated with family symbols, trapezoid-shaped and coloured with natural earth pigments.

Sunday 10 May
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Workshop: The Rooster, the Grape and the Caveja
Curated by C’era una volta

A creative workshop to explore and practise traditional Romagna rust printing. Participants learn the technique through storytelling and manual skills, printing on fabric as it was done in workshops of the past.

Sunday, November 15
3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Workshop: Art Takes Shape with Salt
Curated by Cooperativa Atlantide

A creative workshop to transform salt crystals into works of art. Salt, a precious food, becomes the main material for creating original pieces and having fun together.
