Nott de Bisò

In FaenzaExternal link, Epiphany Eve is dedicated to the Nott de Bisò, the final event of the Niballo Palio of Faenza, which every year attracts thousands of participants to the city.

At the stroke of midnight on January 5, the Niballo, a large puppet depicting Hannibal, is burned in a huge bonfire.
The puppet, dressed in the colors of the winning district of the June Palio, arrives in Piazza del Popolo on a cart pulled by oxen.

The winning district of the summer Palio has the right to burn it: the party in fact reaches its climax when the representative of the district, dressed in a traditional sixteenth-century costume, sets fire to the Niballo.

The exceptional protagonist of the Faenza night is also the Bisò, the mulled wine that is served in the “Gotti”. The gotto, a goblet offered every year with a different decorative style, is enhanced with the symbol of the five districts and that of the city.

During this long event, there is never a lack of music, dancing and lots of fun.
