The Classis Museum is one of the leading archaeological museums in Italy, tracing the history of Ravenna.

The museum is in Classe, just a short distance from Cervia, and if you are interested in archaeology and history then this is the place to visit.

The museum is part of the Class archaeological site, which includes the nearby Basilica of Sant’Apollinare and the Ancient Port.

The museum is housed in an old sugar refinery, which has been beautifully restored to make full use of this important example of industrial heritage. It is worth making a visit just for the building!

When you arrive, your attention will be grabbed by the sparkling mosaic that decorates the long staircase, a symbol of the powerful bond between Ravenna and the sea.
