1936–2026. 90 Years of Forlì Airport
On Sunday, 27 September 2026, Forlì “Luigi Ridolfi” Airport will open its doors to the public to celebrate 90 years of aviation history.
A special day dedicated to the airport’s past, present and future, with a rich programme of activities for enthusiasts, families and the curious. Historic aircraft, aircraft operated by State flight units, aviation-related activities, and events dedicated to education and younger generations will take centre stage.
Among the historic aircraft on display will be the Caproni Ca.3 I-ZANA, associated with the figure of Luigi Ridolfi; the SPAD S.XIII I-JONA, associated with Francesco Baracca; and the Fokker Dr.1 M I-LYNC, inspired by the famous “Red Baron”. Historic aircraft from the Historical Aircraft Group and other aircraft operated by State flight units will also be on display.
Visitors will be able to watch aircraft arriving during the morning and departing in the afternoon, as well as visit an exhibition dedicated to the airport’s 90-year history, curated by the Forlì branch of the Associazione Arma Aeronautica.
The day will also provide an opportunity to discover the world of contemporary aviation through educational activities, workshops, model aircraft activities, and initiatives designed for children and families.
To mark the anniversary, a commemorative postcard celebrating 90 years of Forlì Airport will also be available, with the opportunity to obtain the official commemorative philatelic cancellation stamp issued by Poste Italiane.
An opportunity to retrace the history of “Ridolfi”, discover the world of aviation and look together towards the future of the airport.

During the event, historic aircraft and aircraft operated by State flight units will be present, together with exhibitions, activities for children and families, workshops, stands and events dedicated to the history of the airport and aviation.
The first aircraft will begin arriving at Forlì Airport as early as Saturday, 26 September.
PROGRAMME OF THE DAY
10:15 AM
Gates open and ribbon-cutting ceremony
Official opening of the day in the presence of the Municipality of Forlì, representatives of Forlì Airport / FA S.r.l., civil and military authorities, and representatives of the institutions attending the event.
10:30 AM
Opening of the exhibition celebrating 90 years of Forlì Airport
At the same time, the following areas will open:

The public will be able to see the aircraft on static display up close.

An interactive area where airport staff will guide visitors through a journey of discovery, presenting historical elements and artefacts from Forlì Airport and offering an insight into the airport’s history.
From 4:30 PM – Aircraft departures
A second special moment dedicated to flight.
The public will be able to watch some of the historic aircraft taking part in the celebrations as they depart, follow their return towards the runway and watch them take flight.
5:00 PM – Flight Show – Children’s Area
7:00 PM – Activities at the stands close
On stage, live music will be performed by bands from local music schools.
8:00 PM – Historic aircraft area closes
End of visits to the static exhibition of historic aircraft.
A postcard to remember the 90th anniversary
To mark the anniversary, a commemorative postcard dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Forlì Airport will be available, with the opportunity to obtain the official philatelic cancellation stamp issued by Poste Italiane, featuring a special postmark dedicated to the 90th anniversary.
