Cervia Garden City
From May to September, the green spaces of Cervia, Milano Marittima, Pinarella and Tagliata are adorned with plants, flowers and artistic installations, transforming the city into an explosion of colours and scents that enchants visitors and residents alike during Cervia Città Giardino - Green Energy, the seed of the future. The chosen theme is particularly dear to the town of Cervia, combining the driving force of human energy, represented by those who work in urban green spaces, with the need to protect our invaluable green heritage, with a view to environmental sustainability for the future.
The original gardens and incredible floral displays, created by architects and green technicians from the cities and organisations participating in the event, are on display throughout the summer. This high-quality work of true excellence is inspired by the values of sustainability, care for the environment and biodiversity.
Cervia Garden City
Founded in 1972 under the name ‘Maggio in Fiore’ (May in Bloom) from an idea of Germano Todoli and continued by his son Riccardo, the event took on its current name in the 1990s, to enhance the environmental characteristics of the area, which in the early 20th century stimulated the painter and town planner Giuseppe Palanti to create the garden city here. Today, as in the past, the world-famous event aims to safeguard greenery and nature in the name of friendship between peoples. Every year, Master Gardeners from over 60 Italian and foreign cities, organisations, companies, and associations are invited to Cervia to set up more than 60 green areas in May, creating Europe’s ‘largest open-air floral art exhibition’.
