Artevento Cervia - International Kite Festival
Among the most eagerly awaited events of spring is the International Kite Festival – ARTEVENTO, the longest-running festival in the world dedicated to wind art, which this year celebrates its 46th edition.
From April 23 to May 3, the beach of Pinarella di Cervia turns into an open-air stage where the wind becomes a universal language. More than 200 invited artists from over 50 countries across 5 continents, together with around 2,000 international participants, will fill the sky with spectacular creations inspired by this year’s theme: “Brother Wind.”
For two weeks, artistic, ethnic, historical and giant kites will take turns in the sky, alongside exciting competitions and acrobatic flight performances, educational workshops for adults and children, night shows, live music and a food area dedicated to local flavors.
The theme “Brother Wind” becomes the guiding thread of an edition celebrating harmony between art, nature and peoples, intertwining four important anniversaries: the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi, the 100th anniversary of Grazia Deledda’s Nobel Prize in Literature, the 40th anniversary of the twinning between the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Ibaraki Prefecture, and the long-standing partnership between ARTEVENTO and Contemporary Circus.
This year’s Guest of Honor will be Colombia, represented by the artistic collective Bimana, which has chosen ARTEVENTO for its European debut. Coordinated by Alejandro Uribe, the group will present spectacular three-dimensional works born from the encounter between 3D air creations and figure theatre, giving life to the unprecedented and engaging performance The Parade of Creatures: an immersive and poetic celebration of the wonder of nature, paying tribute to the spirit of the Canticle of the Creatures.
An event capable of uniting cultures, generations and different languages, where the sky becomes a space for dialogue and sharing.
