The Casa delle Aie and the Botanical Garden of Forgotten Fruits

Casa delle Aie Cervia Casa delle Aie Cervia

The tour leads to the discovery of some of the symbolic locations of Cervia's tradition—authentic hidden gems with an ancient and genuine atmosphere—focusing particularly on the Casa delle Aie and the Botanical Garden.

The Casa delle Aie, a historic building designed by the famous architect Camillo Morigia (1743–1795), originally served as the "casa dei pignaroli" (pinecone gatherers' house), a structure built to support pine forest activities.

Morigia, an eminent figure who also designed Dante’s Tomb in Ravenna (1780) and the Oratory of San Lorenzo in Castiglione di Cervia (1794), drew up the plans for this building in 1790.

Today, the location is renowned as a hub for Romagnola gastronomy, where visitors can enjoy traditional local dishes, including fresh homemade pasta, cured meats, grilled meats, and the classic piadina.

The itinerary then continues inside the Botanical Garden, a green space that preserves and showcases over 40 tree species dedicated to the so-called "forgotten fruits."
