The Giro d'Italia arrives in Cervia
On Sunday, 17 May 2026, one of the most challenging days of the Giro d’Italia will unfold with Stage 9 of the 109th edition, starting in Cervia and finishing at Corno alle Scale in Lizzano in Belvedere (Metropolitan City of Bologna).
The Cervia–Corno alle Scale stage stretches over 184 km with a total climb of about 2,400 meters. Riders begin at the Adriatic coast, travel through Romagna, then climb into the Bolognese Apennines, culminating in a summit finish at 1,471 m.

Start details: The official departure is set up in Piazza Andrea Costa. The city route continues along Via Nazario Sauro, Borgomarina, Lungomare d’Annunzio to Rotonda della Pace, Viale Roma, Via Circonvallazione Sacchetti, Ponte Cavour, Via Di Vittorio to Rotonda Ida Paganelli, Via Attilia Angelini to Piazzale Artusi, and Via Martiri Fantini. The “km 0” is fixed along Provincial Road 254 – Via Salara in the Tantlon area.
After leaving the urban area, the race passes through Ravenna and Bologna province towns, including San Zaccaria, San Pietro in Vincoli, Cotignola, Solarolo, Castel Guelfo di Bologna, San Lazzaro di Savena, Sasso Marconi, Marzabotto, Vergato, Vidiciatico, Madonna dell’Acero, and finally Corno alle Scale.
This uphill finish marks a historic return to this Apennine mountain 22 years after the last conclusion there, won in 2004 by Gilberto Simoni.
