One Sky One World - Artevento Cervia
On October 3 and 4, 2026, One Sky One World returns to Cervia, the event that concludes the annual programme of ARTEVENTO International Kite Festival and celebrates its commitment to peace.
One Sky One World is the World Day of Kite Flying for Peace, born from a symbolic gesture made in 1985 by American activist Jane Parker Ambrose. On the occasion of the historic meeting between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev devoted to nuclear disarmament, Jane painted the flags of the United States and the Soviet Union on a kite, together with the outline of Halley’s Comet, chosen as a symbol of hope for a future of peace and greater care for our planet.
The image of that kite, published on the cover of Soviet Life magazine in 1986, became a symbol of friendship and dialogue between peoples. In 1987, the kite was presented in Moscow to the Soviet Women’s Peace Committee, together with a declaration of friendship signed by 300 kite flyers from the United States, Canada, England and Japan. This experience gave rise to the international One Sky One World day, celebrated every year on the second Sunday of October in Berlin and in many cities around the world.
Since 2023, ARTEVENTO has organised the event in Cervia in collaboration with Fondazione PerugiAssisi, reaffirming through the universal language of kites the importance of peace, dialogue and solidarity among peoples.
One Sky One World invites us to reflect on the urgent need for disarmament, dialogue and solidarity among peoples, promoting a culture of peace and standing against every form of war, oppression and indifference.
On Cervia’s beach, adults and children can take part in two days of workshops and kite flying for peace, building their own kite or bringing their favourite one from home, and then sending a shared message of hope into the sky.
Following the success of the International Kite Festival, ARTEVENTO concludes its 2026 programme with a great celebration without barriers, stages or borders: everyone together in the Kite Capital to fill the sky with colour and spread a message of peace.
