Christmas Nativity Scenes
During the Christmas season, Cervia is filled with charm and tradition thanks to the enchanting nativity scenes displayed in churches, squares and outdoor spaces throughout the area.
A deep symbol of Christmas, each nativity scene is crafted with great care and attention to detail. These creations are handmade and unique, made with a variety of materials such as salt, wood and plaster — a reflection of the local heritage and the creativity of local artisans.
The installations range from classic representations to original and contemporary interpretations, offering visitors a fascinating journey through art, spirituality and tradition.

Nativity scene on the water

Life-size, set up on an old Burchiella, on the canal port in front of the Magazzini del Sale.
Brilliant figures covered in salt, creating suggestive plays of light.
Cervia Cathedral

Visiting hours 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
The nativity scene is composed of mechanical parts that allow the statues to move thanks to a hundred small mechanisms. The statues are made of wood and plaster and then decorated by hand.
Nativity Scene Church Madonna della Neve

Visiting hours: 8 a.m. - 12 noon and 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Some parts are mechanical and each year varies with a different spiritual theme.

Three different nativity scenes are set up inside the museum:
- Salt Crib
The scene consists of about fifteen figurines made with guided salt crystallisation in 1992 by Agostino Finchi. - Salt workers' nativity scene
The life-size statues of the Nativity in patinated terracotta were made in the 1980s by Paolo Onestini, a ceramist from Cervia. There are also figures of salt workers at work and figures of life in the salt works. - Mechanical nativity scene
An original nativity scene created by Mario Boselli depicting the places and characters of the town of Cervia.
Stella Maris Parish
Via III traversa, Milano Marittima

On the façade of the church, an artistic multimedia nativity scene with evocative multi-sensory animation reproducing images of scenes from the Nativity, the Annunciation and the Adoration of the Magi from Giotto to the present day. The scenographic installation was created based on a special artistic project, curated by the students of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in collaboration with the Franciscan Friars of the Stella Maris Parish and the Pro Loco Milano Marittima.
Inside the church, a nativity scene depicts the Holy Family in an evocative atmosphere that invites reflection, realised in a simple but meticulous manner and with attention to detail, using mainly natural and local materials.
Pisignano

The scene is set on an old raft, inside a wooden hut wrapped in fishermen's nets and shells. The wood used was collected on the beach. In addition to the Nativity, there are many characters.
Sant'Antonio Church
Via G. Di Vittorio, Cervia
Nativity scene composed of several statues from the mechanical nativity scene originally displayed in the Suffragio church, which are made of wood and terracotta and dressed in cloth.
