The crime of thinking

The crime of thinking The crime of thinking

Thursday 24 July 2025 Paolo Crepet's play ‘Il reato di pensare’.

Paolo Crepet, Italian psychiatrist, sociologist, educator, essayist and columnist, addresses the theme of freedom of thought. The text denounces how freedom of thought is threatened by an invisible control that limits imagination and expression. Thought is no longer banned by laws, but self-imposed censorship is created through social, ideological and technological pressure. Political correctness' and the use of algorithms are restricting creativity and freedom of thought, reducing individuality and the ability to innovate. The text raises the fear that, if left unchecked, this control will eventually stifle originality and free thinking.
