I legni delle saline romane di Cervia
At the MUSA - Salt Museum of Cervia a journey through the restoration of the Roman salt pans with the photographic exhibition I legni delle saline romane di Cervia. From discovery to restoration, organised in collaboration with the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio of the provinces of Ravenna Forlì Cesena and Rimini.
The inauguration is scheduled for Saturday 14 June at 9 p.m., on the occasion of the European Archaeology Days, with the presence of Federica Bosi, Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Cervia, and Kevin Ferrari, archaeologist official of the Superintendency. Marco Marchesini and Fabio Lambertini, specialists in the recovery of imbibed archaeological wood from the CAA Nicoli centre, will accompany participants on a guided tour through insights into the history of the excavation and the restoration of the finds. Exceptionally, some of these woods will be exhibited to the public.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of the history of Cervia's first salt mine, dating back to the Roman age, whose timbers have been recovered from the original structures. The restoration of these woods completes the important restoration project of the Superintendency, financed by the Ministry, which also involved the mosaics of San Martino prope litus maris and will return an important part of its archaeological heritage to the community.
The event is part of the Cervia Archeologica and is part of the valorisation plan promoted by the Ministry of Culture.
